The Bug Factory is a commercial insectary, that is, a place that grows insects. The insects and mites produced by The Bug Factory are safe, effective, and beneficial because they are used to control pest insects using nature’s method. Beneficial insects eat or destroy the pest insects, creating a safe and brilliant alternative to using harmful chemical insecticides. The goal is to reduce, if not eliminate, chemical usage; therefore beneficials are a vital component to integrated pest management practices. The Bug Factory recognizes the organic industry is ever growing and is using the beneficials to help our world go green, becoming a safer and healthier place for all of us to live.

Beneficial insects have been grown in the The Bug Factory’s production facilities since 1989, and are used to help farmers all over Canada, United States, Mexico and the Caribbean. The Bug Factory is also proud to be the world’s leading producer of the mealybug predator, Cryptolaemus. Cryptolaemus is a species of tropical ladybug that originated in Australia. This beautiful beetle is slightly smaller than our common native ladybug and is dark brown to black in color.

The owners and staff take pride in the quality of The Bug Factory’s unique products. Our highly trained and experienced technical advisors work closely with researchers, growers, and pest control advisors to find the best solution to each individual pest problem. Because the insects and mites are grown, formulated and packaged on site, Bug Factory can offer fresh products, fast delivery, flexibility and reliability every day of the year.

All of us at The Bug Factory are very concerned about the environment. We would like to ensure you that our trays that we use for packaging our Persimilis and Feltiella which appear to be and function like plastic deli trays, are actually constructed from a material made from corn oil and are 100% biodegradable. This is just another one of our many ways that we are looking out for mother earth!
